National Age 2025 - Day 5 Wrap

Day 5 was the biggest day of heats the team has ever had with 36 swims across various events from 50m to 400m IM. This led to our biggest night of finals with 15 swims.

What a day!

Swim of the day....

..... goes to Maya Ostapenko in the girls 15 years 400m IM. Maya went into the race full of excitement for this one, leading to a huge pb and bronze medal.

Her first medal of the meet. Maya’s time of 4:57.16 was a huge drop from her entry time of 5:04.45. A great swim from start to finish.

Well done Maya!

Charlotte Lim was up for another big night, ending the night with a gold and silver medal to add to her collection. First up, Charlotte raced the girls 13 years 50m freestyle finishing second in a time 26.84 - just 0.06 slower then her heat pb and both swims under her entry time of 27.10.

She then backed up to race the girls 13 years 100m backstroke to claim the gold medal in a PB time of 1:05.48.

Another great night Charlotte. Keep it up and finish the week strong!

Lexi Mulcahy added another medal to her collection claiming the silver medal behind her team mate in the girls 13 years 100m backstroke. Lexi had the fastest back end 50 out of the whole field coming home in 33:20.

A very well executed race plan. Great job Lexi!

Special mention #1 goes to Will Morgan dropping 1.98 off his entry time in the Boys 17 years 400IM to qualify for his first National Age final.

Will only qualified for his first age nationals last year so it is a testament to the improvement he has made to his training to progress through the ranks so quickly. In the night time final he then dropped another 3.15 seconds to finish 7th in a time of 4:42.46.

This is great to see!

Special mention #2 goes to Taj Kingston in the Boys 16 years 100m Butterfly B final touching the wall in a new PB time of 57.27.

It was great to see Taj stick to his race plan and know he could come home strong enough to swim over most of the field. Taj’s second 50 time of 30.01 was the fastest across the 10 swimmers competing in his race.

To finish the night of racing the  girls competed in the 13/14 years 4x50m Freestyle relay with Charlotte Lim (27.44), Katlin Barry (27.07), Evelyn Song (28.31), and Lexi Mulcahy (27.61).

The team is doing a great job and can finish strong over the next 2 days. Keep it up team!
